The stars are aligning for the 2024 GTC Ball.
Get ready for an enchanting evening under the stars! The college will be transformed into a celestial dream for Starcrossed!
To ensure everyone has a wonderful night at the Ball, please read the information below as it contains crucial details about the event, including wristband pickup information and entry protocol.
Location
All guests will be admitted at the Green Templeton College front gate located at 43 Woodstock Road, OX2 6HG.
Admission
Entry will begin at 20:00.
For guests who have not yet picked up their wristbands, wristband pickups at the door will begin at 19:00 for 20:00 entry. Additional wristband pickup information is outlined below.
Final admission is at 22:00. No guest will be admitted to the Ball after the time of final admission.
Wristbands are required at entry. The wristband must remain on the guest’s wrist at all times. Loss or removal of the wristband might result in non-entry or removal from the Ball.
Entrance to the Ball is final. After leaving the Ball, attendees are not permitted to re-enter.
Upon arrival, there will be two lines:
- Guests who have already picked up their wristbands will be fast-tracked and admitted following a security check.
- Guests who still need to collect their wristbands will need to present (a) their OXEX ticket QR code and (b) a valid form of ID. Guests will then be admitted following a security check.
The GTC ball ends at 4:00 on Saturday 29 June.
Wristband pickups
To ensure an expedited pickup process during the early wristband pickup slots or at the door, all ticketholders should be ready to present their OXEX ticket QR code and a valid photo ID to collect wristbands (ONLY national IDs, driver licenses, and passports will be accepted—Bod Cards will NOT be allowed).
Early wristband pickups will be held in the front courtyard at GTC.
The early wristband pickup slots are as follows:
- Wednesday 26 June from 13:00 to 15:00
- Thursday 27 June from 10:00 to 12:00 then from 15:00 to 17:00
- Friday 28 June from 12:00 to 14:00
- At the Ball, guests may pick up wristbands from 19:00 to queue for 20:00 admission. Wristbands will be available at the door until 22:00 (last admission).
Cloakroom
There will be a cloak room available on the first floor of the Stables Bar. Signs and a map will direct you to the cloakroom upon entry.
A map and schedule
To be shared the morning of the Ball via email. This email will include a site map as well as the timings and locations of vendors. The map will also be shared on our social media, on LED screens throughout the ball, and as QR codes throughout the ball to scan on your phone.
Dress Code
The dress code of this year’s ball is Black Tie. We encourage our guests to dress in their most celestial attire!
Dietary Requirements
There will be a wide range of food available at the ball, including multiple options for guests with the most common dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal). All common allergens will be clearly indicated. However, if you have a severe or uncommon allergy you feel we should know about, please send an email to ball@gtc.ox.ac.uk.
Reusable cups
To reduce the amount of single-use plastic at the ball, GTC will be providing reusable cups at the entrance to the ball. Attendees are encouraged to use these reusable cups at any vendor that serves alcohol, soft drinks, or water. There will be hydration stations scattered throughout the ball where guests may rinse their cups between drinks. The hydration stations will be clearly marked on the map. If you need a new cup for any reason, DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR REUSABLE CUP. There will be reusable cup return stations located throughout the ball where old cups can be swapped for new cups. At the end of the night, all reusable cups should be returned at the return station at the exit gate. We thank you for your partnership in our effort to make the GTC Ball more sustainable!
Please pay attention to the labeled bins for each type of waste. Putting the right rubbish in the right bin will help us to recycle properly!
Safety Information
The Committee reserves the right to refuse admission and act as it deems necessary in the interest of the safety and security of the Ball and its guests.
No outside food or drinks are allowed.
Drug and legal high policy
The Ball has a zero-tolerance drug and legal high policy. Attendees may be searched upon entry and may be refused entry if drugs are found. Any attendee who fails to comply with the drug policy entry requirements will not be admitted to the Ball and their ticket will not be refunded.
Welfare and First-Aid
On the night of the ball, the Porter’s Lodge will be your first point of contact for any access, welfare, or first-aid issues. If you require prescription medication on the night, please bring along a medical or pharmaceutical note which can serve as evidence that it has been prescribed to you.
Smoking
There will be a designated smoking area on site that will be clearly marked on the map. Smoking will not be allowed outside this designated area.
