Dr Vidya Narayanan, director of research, Computational Propaganda Project, Oxford Internet Institute

This is the fourth of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism‘s seminars in 2019, which focus on the business and practice of journalism.

Dr Vidya Narayanan works at the Oxford Internet Institute’s Computational Propaganda Project which looks at the use of algorithms, automation and computational propaganda in public life.

She has several years of experience working as a researcher in Artificial Intelligence, with groups at both universities and in commercial environments. Her research interests lie in the interface between technology, ethics and policy, and she is primarily engaged in developing systems that use technology for the greater good of society.

Dr Narayanan completed her Phd in Computer Science at the University of Southampton, building adaptive techniques for automated negotiations.
