About the event

Creating meaningful change in health systems can be surprisingly difficult. This interactive workshop explores how to create real change within healthcare systems, and how clinicians and other healthcare professionals can influence people, organisations, policy and practice.

Drawing on real-world examples across clinical leadership, regulation, professional organisations, research and policy, this workshop will consider how to identify who really has influence, understand competing priorities, build coalitions, frame an argument effectively, and recognise when evidence alone is not enough. Exploring the less visible aspects of influencing: relationships, timing, credibility, organisational politics and understanding what matters to the people whose behaviour or decisions are being influenced
