We are saddened to hear of the death of Alexander Patrick, Visiting Honorary Fellow of Green College from 2001 to 2005, and Honorary Fellow of Green College (subsequently Green Templeton College) from 2005 to 2020. He passed away at the Marie Curie Hospice in Solihull on Saturday 18 April.
Alexander was first introduced to Green College’s second Warden, Lord Walton, and was connected to the college for nearly 30 years. He was the Chairman of the Patrick (family) Trust which was established by his father in 1962 to support work in the field of muscular dystrophy and in aid of other charitable purposes.
The Patrick Trust has been a generous donor to Green and Green Templeton College including to 13 Norham Gardens, Observatory Street property and the last major Observatory conservation project. The Patrick Room is a guest suite in New Block where we can host visitors to college.
Alexander was involved in his family business throughout his life, in addition to numerous charities. He was Honorary Life President of Muscular Dystrophy UK, Chairman of the Joseph Patrick Trust (Muscle Equipment Fund), and Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Company He was also a founding Trustee of the Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth in Cornwall. He was a Deputy Lieutenant for the West Midlands for many years.
We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Alexander’s family. The funeral will be family only and at a later date a Service of Thanksgiving is to be arranged.
