Green Templeton welcomed around 30 alumni and students to the Radcliffe Observatory on Wednesday 4 June 2025 for an Alumni-Student Reception.

The event, designed to create new connections between current and past students, was the initiative of Micaiah Bell (MSc Sociology 2024), who welcomed guests by reflecting on his journey: ‘During my undergraduate degree, alumni showed me possibilities I had never considered. Their guidance inspired me to be here today and create an event where students can experience the same encouragement.’

Guests represented a wide range of disciplines, from medical and health research to business, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. Conversations moved easily between academic interests and career insights, highlighting the breadth of knowledge and experience within the college community.

Candice Tian (MSc Education (Higher Education), 2017) shared a personal story about friendship and enterprise: ‘I met my closest friends at Green Templeton. Building on those relationships, my time at college and previous career, I launched my company once I graduated, and my peers remain my strongest supporters.’

In closing remarks, the Development and Alumni team thanked participants for their enthusiasm and invited feedback and ideas: ‘The ambition is to bridge the gap between alumni and students, creating more opportunities for connection, collaboration and co-creation,’ said Director of Development Ceri Butcher.

Alumni and students who want to spearhead future activities are encouraged to contact alumni@gtc.ox.ac.uk.
