Congratulations Sir Richard Greenhalgh

Richard Greenhalgh Profile PictureHonorary Fellow Sir Richard Greenhalgh has been knighted in the King’s Birthday Honours for services to education.

Sir Richard stood down as chair of United Learning’s Group Board last month after serving the maximum nine years in the role. As Chair of the Board, Richard oversaw United Learning’s growth and development as a highly successful group of schools serving communities across the country. During his term, the Group more than doubled in size to over 100 schools today.

Sir Richard was Chairman of Templeton College Governing Body from 2003 to 2008. He was a Barclay Fellow of Templeton then Green Templeton College from 2003 to 2012, and has been an Honorary Fellow since 2013.

Sir Richard spent over thirty years with the international company Unilever, holding a number of senior positions throughout his career with the company. He has lived in Nigeria and spent time working in Africa, Latin America and India. He went on to become Chairman of Unilever UK until his retirement in 2004.
