Professor Neil Mortensen awarded Honorary Membership of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland

Green Templeton College Governing Body Fellow Professor Neil Mortensen has been awarded Honorary Membership of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).

Professor Mortensen received the ACPGBI’s highest honour in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the association over many years, at the annual meeting in Dublin in July 2019.

He said: “It is a great honour to be recognised by your peers. This is the specialty I helped to create in the UK and I am very proud to have been given such a special award.”

Professor Mortensen served as President of the ACPGBI from 2002 to 2003, and is Editor-in-Chief of Colorectal Disease, a leading journal in the field published by the ACPGBI in close association with Wiley-Blackwell Publishing.

The ACPGBI is a group of more than 1,000 surgeons, nurses and health professionals working to advance the knowledge and treatment of bowel diseases in Great Britain and Ireland.

Professor Mortensen is Professor of Colorectal Surgery in the University of Oxford Medical School, and a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon.
