Sports Clubs
Green Templeton is home to a range of groups and activities.
Gym and group exercise
We are offering free Zumba and Yoga classes in the gym throughout term. Zumba classes are on Wednesdays, 17:00 to 18:00, every week during term time except on Wednesday 30 October. Yoga will be offered every Sunday throughout term, 13:00 to 14:15, and four times on Wednesdays 19:00 to 20:00 (16 and 13 October and 13 and 27 November). Both classes are free for Green Templeton students, no need to sign up in advance, just show up and make sure to bring some water. Contact: gcr-sports@gtc.ox.ac.uk
The gym is always open to suggestions for new sports groups and classes. You can suggest a new sports group or class idea via this suggestion box.
Green Templeton College Boat Club
The youngest of the college boat clubs, Green Templeton Boat Club was created in 2008 after the merger of Green College and Templeton College. Since then, the GTBC has grown rapidly into a large vibrant community of enthusiastic rowers of all levels. Our history may be short, but already we have earned a reputation for both our skills and our fun. As an inclusive, active and fun club, we would love to meet you and give you a sense of rowing (and coxing) and our club! The only requirement to be able to participate in this is that YOU NEED TO BE ABLE TO SWIM (safety requirement from the University). You can join the Green Templeton Boat Club at any time during Michaelmas term! But we recommend joining as soon as possible to follow the training program.

Green Templeton Squash Club
Interested in playing the healthiest sport in the world (Forbes magazine) at your friendly college club? At Squash at Green Templeton, we welcome players of all abilities, even if you’ve never played before! Do take advantage of the on-site squash facilities in GTC, including a heated court, rackets, professional coaching, social events, a ladder and more. The college team competes in the university league, and, if there is sufficient interest, we can enter a 2nd team too. Come along to a coaching session, run every Tuesday and Thursday during term time for, beginners (17:30 to 18:30), and intermediate or advanced (18:30 to 19:30) players – look out for our weekly emails so you can join these! For more information email ken.deng@gtc.ox.ac.uk or join our WhatsApp group.
Green Templeton Men’s Football Club
‘The Snakes’ were founded in 2022 by Patrick Oliver (Clinical Medicine, 2022). After an outstanding first season, they were promoted to Division 2 of the MCR college league. The club continues to have a great friendly atmosphere and are looking forward to another successful year! The captain of a joint Green Templeton and Osler House team for 2024/25 is Harry Crook. For more information and to get involved, please email patrick.oliver@gtc.ox.ac.uk
Green Templeton Running Club
At various points there has been a Green Templeton Running Club to provide a platform for people at Green Templeton who enjoy going for runs and are looking to find a couple of running companions. At times, members have gone regular runs on Sunday morning before the Green Templeton brunch. Members often participate as a college team at the annual Oxford Town and Gown 10k run in May, which takes in the most scenic parts of Oxford but we can also think about participating in more running events throughout the year. The Club is currently looking for new, active leadership.
Green Templeton Tennis Club
Green Templeton does not have an active tennis club at the moment, however, we are offering tennis classes throughout term, both for beginners and intermediate players. Those classes are running on Mondays and Wednesdays from 15:00-16:30. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis to the first 16 individuals. Preference will be given to students that can attend all the classes. Sign up emails for those classes will be sent out next week Monday. For more information, email gcr-sports@gtc.ox.ac.uk.
Green Templeton Netball Club
The GTC netball team plays in the College mixed netball competition, with games throughout Michaelmas on Thursday afternoons. We welcome everyone, regardless of playing experience or general sporting expertise, and we would love to have you join us! Associate members are also more than welcome to play. If you’re interested in getting involved, please email isobel.howard@gtc.ox.ac.uk to be added to the WhatsApp group.
Punting
The College Punt is now back available to be booked via the College Booking system for the 2024 season. The cost is £35 for 2 hours for up to six people. This is significantly cheaper than booking a non-GTC punt directly with the Cherwell Boathouse. More details on Cherwell Boathouse punting.
After booking you will just need to pop by the Lodge and collect a Punt Token. As we only have access to one punt please do bring it back on time or you could be charged for someone else missing their slot.
