Amy Booth

DPhil Translational Health Sciences
2021

Amy BoothI completed my medical degree at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, as the top graduating student. Having spent several years working as a clinical doctor during the COVID pandemic, I became acutely aware of the impact our health systems are having on our environment. I will be embarking on a DPhil in Translational Health Sciences, on a Rhodes Scholarship, where I will be looking at how health care professionals and health system policy makers can implement a sustainability lens into health care.

I am passionate about research, and spent time in the WASH Unit at the World Health Organization in Geneva as a research intern and then consultant. This experience further promoted my interest in public health and policy. I am also interested in outreach and in addition to continuing the outreach work that I do in South Africa, I am excited to get involved in further initiatives at Oxford and GTC.

I am an avid runner, enjoy music, theatre and opera, and am looking forward to exploring the historical sites of Oxford and the UK.
