Beatriz Simões Godinho

DPhil Clinical Neurosciences
2019

My name is Beatriz. I’m originally from Lisbon, Portugal, where I lived all my life before coming to Oxford. I have a masters in Biological Engineering (Técnico Lisboa, University of Lisbon), but during the last year of the course I made a turn towards Neuroscience. I joined the Systems Neuroscience lab at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown as a masters student, and stayed for a couple more years as a research technician. I am primarily interested in cognitive neurosciences and how we can mathematically represent brain activity in processes such as learning, decision making, and representation and generalisation of real and abstract spaces.

Aside from science, I like being outdoors, especially by the sea, as well as writing, photographing, dancing and cooking. I’m really excited to be part of GTC and meeting new people from such diverse backgrounds!
