DPhil Musculoskeletal Sciences, 2025
I’m a medical doctor from South Africa. Before coming to the UK, I spent three years working in urban and rural healthcare settings across the country, with my final year focused on orthopaedic surgery. Meeting patients and colleagues from such a wide range of backgrounds was one of the most rewarding parts about that time, and it strengthened my interest in making quality surgical care more accessible.
I came to Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and am now studying for a DPhil in Musculoskeletal Sciences. My research looks at how best to align the Oxford Unicompartmental Knee Replacement, with the aim of improving outcomes for patients.
Outside of medicine, sport and the outdoors have always been a big part of my life. I’m a keen middle-distance runner and was fortunate to represent the University at the Varsity Match, where I earned a Full Blue for the 800m. I also enjoyed running for Green Templeton at the Teddy Hall Relays. When I’m not running, I like hiking, playing tennis and spending time with friends.
