Evelyn studied an Integrated Master’s in Natural Sciences at the University of Nottingham and always had an interest in studying and practising medicine. During her second year, she suffered a head injury which meant that studying medicine was no longer an option for her at that time.

She went on to work for the government through the Civil Service Fast Stream, completing postings at multiple government departments and the Wellcome Trust, but missed doing science and the practical side of things. Evelyn then joined the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health as a research assistant.

As her head injury symptoms improved, she was able to apply to medical school. Evelyn is grateful for the Entry-Level Medicine Bursary she received, which she says has made it easier to commit fully to her studies. A keen snowboarder, in the future she hopes to combine her love of the mountains with her medical training.
