Guobin Su

As a trained nephrologist in both Sweden and China, Dr Guobin Su is dedicated to improving care and providing the best practice for patients with kidney disease. He is now a nephrologist and associate professor in research, in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, State Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome, China. He is also an affiliated researcher at the Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet. He is a recipient of the European Renal Association (ERA)-ERAC fellowship, ERA Young fellowship, ‘Outstanding Young talent’ by Guangdong Provincial Association of Integrated Western and Chinese Medicine, China.

Dr Su graduated as M.D. and best-graduating student in 2011 (University of Guangzhou University of Chinese, China) and obtained his Ph.D. degree in clinical epidemiology and global public health in 2019 (Karolinska Institutet, Sweden). At Oxford, he is studying for the MSc in Clinical Trials at the Nuffield Department of Population Health.

His research interest includes healthy lifestyle and medicine (including Chinese medicine) for better kidney health, the disease burden and management of interaction between infection (including urinary tract infection) and kidney disease, with application of big data and artificial intelligence technology. His research has been supported by ERA, National Science Foundation of China, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and The Karolinska Institutet’s research grants.

Dr. Su has published over 40 original articles and reviews in top journals including Nat Rev Nephro (IF:42.439), Cochrane Sys Rev Db (IF:12.008)、J Am Soc Nephrol (IF: 14.978), Am J Kidney Dis (IF: 13.7), Clin J Am Soc Nephrol (IF:10.614), Nephro Dial Transpl (IF: 7.8), etc. He also authored a book chapter ‘Infection in CKD’ in ‘Evidence-based Nephrology’ (2rd edition, Wiley Blackwell, 2019).

He currently serves as an editorial fellow in Nephro Dial Transpl and reviewers for Can Med Assoc J、J Intern Med、J Am Soc Nephrol、Am J Kidney Dis、Clin J Am Soc Nephro、Phytomedicine, etc.
