Matthew is from Sydney, Australia, and a ‘lawyer in denial’, having graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Government and International Relations), a Bachelor of Law, and a Masters of Law, but pivoting to a career in politics, and the civil service.

He is currently an Associate Director, Policy at The Cabinet Office for the NSW Government where he advises the Premier on economic policy, including major infrastructure projects, decarbonisation, transport policy, cultural policy, and investment. He has previously worked as a Senior Adviser to the Minister for the Arts, and worked with parliamentarians to progress key law reform projects including marriage equality, abortion, and voluntary assisted dying.

Matthew is passionate about politics, the arts, and the LGBTIQ community. He is currently a board director of one of Australia’s leading modern chamber music ensembles (‘Omega Ensemble’), and previously served as the Founder and CEO of a national LGBTIQ charity (‘Out for Australia’) supporting young LGBTIQ professionals navigating the early stages of their career.
