DPhil Socio-Legal Studies
2021

Pablo Pena AlegriaI have been working in environmental law and policy for 15 years. I have worked in biodiversity conservation and forest policy at the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA), and at the Peruvian government, leading the strategic affairs department of the new environmental licensing agency (Senace). Recently, I have been senior public policy officer at the Peru office of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). Prior to studying at Oxford, I received a LLB from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and a masters of environmental management from Yale University. I also teach environmental law and policy at PUCP and other universities in Peru.

My research at the Faculty of Law’s Centre for Socio-legal Studies uses empirical methods to understand the role of law in deforestation, with a focus on agricultural landscapes in the Peruvian Amazon.
