Pietro Ferrero

I am Pietro, a 3rd year DPhil student in Mathematical Physics. I did my undergraduate studies and my Master’s in Pisa, both at the local university and at Scuola Normale Superiore. I have always been extremely fascinated by the study of natural phenomena, and the combined study of Mathematics and Physics provides an incredibly precise way to describe them. I am now a member of the Oxford String Theory group, where I am carrying out my research on black holes, quantum gravity and conformal field theories.

Besides Physics my main hobby is water polo, that I have been playing since I was 7. I have played for a first division Italian team (Bogliasco 1951) when in High School, and occasionally joined the youth National team. I am currently captain and coach for the Oxford University Water Polo Club men’s team and have been awarded a Full Blue in 2018/19 and 2019/20.
