Tanu Soni

MSc International Health and Tropical Medicine 2021

Hi my name is Tanu Soni. Prior to commencing my MSc, I completed my Master of Public Health (MPH) from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh, India. I am specialised in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. I obtained my Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (BDS). I have also undergone training in project management certified by the International Association for Continuing Education.

For the past seven years, I have worked with various national and international organizations as a public health professional. During my work, I have contributed towards the implementation, critical appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of projects under various capacities. My area of expertise and interest includes Primary Health Care, Global Health, Stakeholder Management, Implementation Research and Medical Education.

I am always enthusiastic to work on public health initiatives and have volunteered for Global Health Field Based Community Development Studies in Gender Equity, WASH and Nutrition. I have also participated in the international program “the May Measurement Month (MMM)” led by International Society of Hypertension aimed at creating awareness of hypertension through opportunistic screening. One of the key objectives of MMM is to collect the scientific evidence needed to help influence global health policy and make BP screening more widely available around the world.

I have joined the MSc program as an ExxonMobil Global Health Scholar to acquire additional knowledge and broaden my possibilities to act in favour of international development and health innovations in resource limited settings.

In the future, I aim to work in a leadership position influencing health policies at their genesis through innovative methods.
During my spare time, I enjoy being with nature and have a passion for hiking and mountains. As a curious person, I’d love to meet people with different backgrounds and interests.
