Yacine Ouahioune
MSc Economics for Development, 2022
I am a French student in development economics, researching on the links between food, nutrition and development. My current research focus on the links between globalisation and the nutrition transition in South, East and South-East Asia, and I also have a strong interest in culinary cultures and their links with geopolitics and food security. In my bachelor, I have also studied humanities, especially French literature and philosophy, as well as sociology and geography.
As a French civil-servant trainee in research and academia, I aim at becoming a researcher in international institutions related to food or development (UNDP, FAO, WFP). I also have experience in city-level politics and in diplomacy.
Apart from food – I am always looking for fun new things to eat – I enjoy reading, music (especially opera) and anime. Apart from being a true Parisian at heart, I also love the London lifestyle. I speak French and English already, as well as some German, and I will be studying Mandarin this year.
