Dr SanYuMay Tun

Dr SanYuMay Tun is a Research Fellow of Green Templeton College.
She is recognised nationally and internationally as leading in the field of Education for Sustainable Healthcare (ESH) and Planetary Health in health professions education. SanYuMay has a background in medicine as a former general practitioner, in environmental science and policy, and in medical education as a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA), the highest level of recognition for university educators.
She established and chairs the Medical Schools Council’s Education for Sustainable Healthcare Alliance (MSC – ESHA) of the 50 UK medical schools, having led the development of the first ESH curriculum to be endorsed by any national medical educational bodies – Education for Sustainable Healthcare – A curriculum for the UK. This curriculum guidance document is included by GMC the medical regulator as informing its required Outcomes for graduates, to qualify as a doctor in the UK. This framework has also informed Planetary Health and ESH curricula in other health professions, postgraduate training, and in countries around the world.
SanYuMay is on the boards and steering committees of the major global institutions in this space, and also advises on policy and regulation. She develops faculty, examines and lectures across the UK and abroad and at the University of Oxford she teaches Planetary Health and Education for Sustainable Healthcare.
