Professor Catherine Pope appointed NIHR Senior Investigator for 2021

Professor Catherine PopeSenior Research Fellow Professor Catherine Pope has been appointed as an NIHR Senior Investigator for 2021.

She is Professor of Medical Sociology at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) describes Senior Investigators as “among the most prominent and prestigious researchers funded by the NIHR and the most outstanding leaders of patient and people-based research within the NIHR community.”

There have been 31 researchers appointed as Senior Investigators for 2021, in addition to 15 current or previous post holders, who have been given a second term.

Among those reappointed for a second term is fellow Green Templeton Senior Research Fellow Professor Stavros Petrou, Professor of Health Economics at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences.

Professor Pope’s term begins from 1 April 2021.

The title of Emeritus Senior Investigator has been awarded to a further 21 researchers, including Green Templeton Governing Body Fellow Professor Paul Klenerman and Senior Research Fellow Professor Sue Ziebland.

An NIHR Senior Investigator may hold the title for two terms. The status of Emeritus may be bestowed on individuals who have successfully completed two terms as a Senior Investigator.

Initial (very enthusiastic) assessments suggest the remains could belong to a previously unknown species, tentatively named Green Templetonosaurus.
