Professor Denise Lievesley appointed Honorary Fellow
Professor Denise Lievesley, outgoing Principal of Green Templeton College, has been elected an Honorary Fellow by its Governing Body.
Stepping down in September after five years at the helm, Denise expressed her delight at this honour.
Denise said of her election: “It means a lot to me. I miss the college’s wonderfully supportive community and this continuing fellowship will enable me to keep in touch.
“I look forward to finding ways in which I can contribute to the college’s future activities, particularly those relating to fund-raising for postgraduate scholarships.
“Widening access to an Oxford education continues be very important and noting the achievements in increasing the diversity of the student body I am keen to foster new initiatives in this area.”
Sir Michael Dixon, Denise’s successor as Principal said: “As Chair of Governing Body, I am delighted that Denise’s significant contribution to the college has been recognised by the conferral of Honorary Fellowship. I can personally see the impact Denise has had over her tenure as Principal and am pleased to benefit from the work she has done. As an Honorary Fellow she will be permanently associated with the college to everyone’s benefit.”
At the same time, Denise’s partner Professor Roland Rosner was awarded Radcliffe Common Room Membership for his active engagement in many aspects of college life over the past five years. This included spearheading musical initiatives including the much-loved GTC Performs! evenings, the college choir, and organising regular concerts by Green Templeton’s Musician-in-Residence, virtuoso pianist Maki Sekiya.
Both Denise and Roland have happy memories of their time at the college. Now back at their home in rural Kent, the COVID-19 restrictions have meant that their plans to visit Oxford to mark their departure are on hold.
Meanwhile Denise is building a portfolio of roles to contribute to statistical and educational work. She is based at the Policy Institute at King’s College London, and has been appointed to the Council of Durham University.
Congratulations to Denise and Roland on their Green Templeton appointments!

The college is delighted to share the completion of the south landscaping at the Radcliffe Observatory 🌿
This new shared landscape sits at the heart of the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, made possible by the Stephen A. Schwarzman Foundation.
Work continues on Phase 1 of the Radcliffe Observatory project, including a new main entrance via the East Wing and improved accessibility with step-free access to all entrances.
