Meghana Pandit appointed Oxford University Hospitals CEO
Associate Fellow Professor Meghana Pandit has been appointed as permanent Chief Executive Officer of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust starting in March 2023.
Meghana was appointed to the post on a fixed-term basis in July 2022 and has now been appointed permanently following a rigorous and competitive process which concluded after an extensive national and international recruitment search.
Meghana becomes the Trust’s first female CEO and she is also the first person of colour to be appointed as the CEO of any NHS trust in the Shelford Group, which represents some of the biggest teaching hospitals in the country.
Commenting on her appointment Meghana said: ‘It is a privilege to be asked to lead OUH on a permanent basis and I look forward to continue working with colleagues at OUH, our partners in the health and social care system in Oxfordshire and across the regional integrated care system, our partner universities, and Oxford Hospitals Charity, to ensure the highest quality of research and innovation enabled care for our patients and populations.

Meghana has been an Associate Fellow at Green Templeton since 2019, during which time she has been an active contributor to the Management in Medicine Shadowing Programme. In the past year has been a featured speaker on forecasts and innovations in health at the annual Richard Doll Society Conference and participated in a discussion of how female leadership has evolved over time and what the future holds for women leaders at an online event for alumni.
Professor Meghana Pandit trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Oxford Deanery and was Visiting Lecturer in Urogynaecology at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Meghana was Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Clinical Director and then Divisional Director at Milton Keynes before joining University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) where Meghana was Chief Medical Officer from May 2012 to December 2018 and Deputy Chief Executive from 2014.
More recently, Meghana served as Chief Medical Officer at Oxford University Hospitals, with responsibility for Clinical Safety and Outcomes, Medical Education, and Research and Development. She was also Responsible Officer for over 1,000 doctors.
Meghana was Course Director for MSc in Healthcare Operational Management at Warwick University and continues to teach on it. Meghana has completed an MBA from Oxford Brookes University and the Innovating Health for Tomorrow Programme at INSEAD, Fontainebleau. Meghana was awarded the Founding Senior Fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Management and Leadership and is Honorary Professor at Warwick University.
