Sir Muir Gray leads online wellbeing courses for those self-isolating
Sir Muir Gray CBE, Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College and former Chief Knowledge Officer for the NHS, has teamed up with Learning with Experts to create wellbeing courses for older people; especially relevant to those isolating during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
While isolation and social distancing is necessary to stop the worst impacts of the virus, Muir writes in a blog post for Learning with Experts that enforcing this without providing vulnerable populations with information, encouragement, support and motivation to maintain and increase fitness while at home will increase the risk of needing social care in the years to come.
Sir Muir believes we need a major learning and activity programme aimed at people over 70 and that will have to be delivered digitally. The aim should be not only to reach people as individuals but to reach them in groups, to keep those groups active and socially stimulated.
