Students selected for Lightweight Boat Race
Three students from Green Templeton College, Oxford, have been selected to compete in the 2025 Boat Race events, representing Oxford in both the Women’s Lightweight Eight and the Men’s Lightweight Spares Race.

Verity Black (Clinical Medicine, 2023) and Erica Dutton (Clinical Medicine,2023) will take on pivotal roles in the Women’s Lightweight Eight race on Saturday 12 April. Black will serve as cox, responsible for steering and coordinating the crew, while Dutton will occupy seat five, a key position that contributes significantly to the boat’s power and rhythm.
Joining them in this year’s races is Dylan Dissanayake (DPhil Computational Discovery, 2023) who has been selected to take part in the Men’s Lightweight Spares Race.

The Boat Race, a historic rowing competition between Oxford and Cambridge universities, features various events including the Lightweight and Openweight races. These events celebrate the dedication, athleticism, and teamwork of student rowers from both institutions.

The 2025 Boat Race promises to be a thrilling occasion, with supporters from both universities lining the banks of the River Thames to cheer on their respective teams. The participation of three Green Templeton students adds a special touch for the college community, who will be watching with pride as their peers compete at the highest level.
The main Boat Race, featuring the men’s and women’s openweight crews, will take place on Sunday 13 April, with live coverage on the BBC starting from 12:45 BST.
