Success in Student Union Awards 2023

Green Templeton congratulates Gloria Ngaiza (DPhil Clinical Medicine, 2021) and Tori Ford (DPhil Primary Health Care, 2021) who were both recently honoured at the Oxford Student Union awards. They celebrate the incredible work taking place within the student community in Oxford each year.

Gloria Su AwardGloria Ngaiza was the recipient of the Race Equality Award. This award is given out in recognition of students who are working to help racialised members of the university and have been involved in the fight against racism at Oxford. Gloria passionately dedicates her time to organising events that promote inclusion and diversity among Black students and the wider college and university community in her roles as Vice-President and now President of the Green Templeton Black Students’ Society. She was pivotal in the organisation of the Black History Month celebration in October 2022, Diversity Dinner, monthly Black student socials, movie nights and the Uncomfortable Oxford tour for students. Furthermore, she is set to lead the launch of a Black Students’ Journal to document the rich history and culture of black students, alumni and academics in Oxford.

Tori Su AwardTori Ford was in receipt of the Paving the Way Award given to those who have been innovative or original in their approach to activism, campaign and student representation, or who have achieved outstanding results from their efforts. Tori is recognised for creating Medical Herstory as a platform to change the future of medicine through storytelling. Medical Herstory is an award-winning not-for-profit on a mission to eliminate sexism, shame, and stigma from health experiences. They have launched programmes to advance gender health equity through medical education, patient advocacy, and undoing social stigma. Tori launched the Gender Health Equity Collective at Green Templeton to bring together researchers and advocates across Oxford working on gender equity.
