Support Green Templeton’s rowing crews at Summer Eights 2019
The Green Templeton Boat Club will compete on the river during this year’s Summer Eights.
The four-day regatta kicks off on Wednesday 29 May and continues until Saturday 1 June, as Oxford college rowing teams compete for the Head of the River title.
Come along and join us at the Longbridges Boathouse to support the Green Templeton crews! (Directions to the boathouse.) There will be barbecue food, drinks and baked goods for sale each day at the boathouse.
Bumps races, which are a rich tradition within the University, happen twice a year – Torpids in early Hilary Term and Summer Eights in Trinity Term.
The aim of a bumps race is not to pass the boat ahead but to bump into it. Each bump earns a boat a place up the divisional ladder, with the top crew becoming the Head of the River. Teams who bump at least once during each of the four days of racing earn blades.

Green Templeton is supporting a ‘Race not Waste’ initiative spearheaded by Christ Church, in collaboration with Lady Margaret Hall, which aims to make this year’s Summer Eights the greenest ever and reduce the amount of plastic waste produced.
Spectators and competitors are asked to bring their own reusable cups and bottles, which can be refilled at the boathouses’ water taps, and there are new recycling bins at the boathouses. Find out more about the Race not Waste initiative.
