Academic focus
Alexander is a DPhil Candidate in Oncology with research interests spanning computational mathematics, bioinformatics, and machine learning. He is especially passionate about computational medicine, computational biology, and protein/cheminformatics. His Honours thesis investigated computation by biological means – an exploration of biological alternative computing – reflecting his long-standing commitment to interdisciplinary computational sciences.

Leadership and community
Since 2023, Alexander has served as President of the Graduate Common Room (GCR). During his tenure, he has prioritised transparency in College governance, championed a supportive and inclusive community, and encouraged the principle of ‘quality over quantity’ to guide GCR initiatives. He has also led a comprehensive review and update of the GCR constitution to ensure current roles and responsibilities can adapt to the evolving needs of students.

Nautilus Award
Alexander’s dedication to fostering strong student engagement was recognised in 2024, when he received the Nautilus Award. His leadership style and efforts to build continuity between successive GCR committees have helped ensure ongoing support—academically, socially, and emotionally—for students at GTC.
