Amelia Mercado
MSc Social Data Science, 2025
Amelia is a fourth-year medical student at Baylor College of Medicine and an MSc student in Social Data Science at the University of Oxford. Her work sits at the intersection of informatics and mental health, and she is broadly interested in how computational methods can be applied to psychiatric research and practice.
In particular, she is drawn to the use of machine learning to understand psychiatric phenomena, from how we measure and classify illness to how we anticipate who will recover and why. As a future psychiatrist, she is also interested in neuromodulation and the personalisation of stimulation approaches for individual patients.
