Jana Michaličková

I’m a lawyer from Slovakia, and my work sits where law meets education and children’s rights. In 2021 I founded Akadémia sv. Michala, which started as a small kindergarten and has since grown into three schools: a kindergarten and a primary school in Bratislava, and an art school in Trenčín. More recently I set up EduSkill Hub ltd., a young company that advises schools on legislation and management. Running schools day to day made me curious about educational assessment. That’s what brought me to Oxford.

Alongside all this, I work in a legal and policy role at the Office of the Commissioner for Children in Slovakia, and I’ve advised the European Commission on judicial training. I’ve also written monographs and a number of articles on law and children’s rights.
