Dr Mohamed Elzawahry
Dr Mohamed Elzawahry is a Joan and Richard Doll Fellow at Green Templeton College and a post-doctoral Clinical Research Fellow at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford.
He is also a Higher Speciality Trainee in General and Transplantation Surgery in the Thames Valley deanery. He recently completed a DPhil at the University of Oxford investigating novel methods for the preservation of pancreas grafts prior to transplantation. He is currently leading the recruitment for a first-in-human NIHR-funded clinical trial testing the safety and feasibility of oxygenated hypothermic machine perfusion in pancreas graft preservation.
He completed his primary medical qualification at Cairo University, Egypt, with honours. He subsequently commenced his surgical training and was awarded a Master of Science in Surgery. After moving to the UK, he completed a Master of Surgery from the University of Edinburgh with distinction. He has consistently facilitated clinical teaching and holds a PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice.
