EDI People and Leadership
Green Templeton’s policy is that our equality, diversity and inclusion aims should be kept in mind when decisions are made at any level, by anyone in the community. This means that EDI is everybody’s job, especially in the senior leadership team. The college has also appointed individuals with specific responsibilities for providing voices and expertise on EDI, as well as student-facing staff who deliver individual support and help.
Green Templeton Equality and Diversity Forum
This meets four times a year. It advises the college on policy, objectives and reporting relating to diversity, equity and inclusion, and oversees new projects and activities aimed at helping the college meet its objectives.
The forum is chaired by the Equality and Diversity Lead and Senior Tutor (Dr Alison Stenton) and the Equality and Diversity Champion (Professor Sonia Antoranz Contera), and includes representatives from the college’s staff, students, fellows and alumni. Anyone in the college community who wants to attend the forum is welcome to do so; email the secretary (ruth.scobie@gtc.ox.ac.uk) to find out more.
Student leadership and advocacy
The Green Templeton Graduate Common Room has a strong voice in college decision-making as well as everyday student life. They have a Vice President with specific responsibility for Equality and Diversity, with roles for an Interfaith Officer, LGBTQIA+ Officer, Black Students’ Representative, and Couples and Families’ Representative. However, equality, diversity and inclusion is not only the remit of specific student officers and representatives, but is embedded into the work and advocacy of the whole GCR.
