About the event

This presentation outlined work taking place on an Index of the Rights of Older People and the assessment of 12 European countries’ performance on developing such rights. Dr Birtha discussed why a human rights-based approach is needed in long-term care policies across Europe and what practical tools could help in the development and assessment of policies to respond best to the social, economic and political challenges of an ageing population. Professor Herring spoke on the implications for the UK.

About the event

This session drew on early insights from IMPACT, the new, University of Birmingham-based, UK centre for implementing evidence in adult social care, which has received Β£15m over nearly 7 years to help get evidence of what works used in practice to make a difference to services and to people’s lives.Β  The talk gave a brief introduction to IMPACT and its work, before exploring key insights around implementation, innovation and change. In particular, it discussed the determinants of praxis in adult social care.
