Based in Hong Kong, she currently leads regional communications efforts for a global financial institution, where she focuses on reputation management, executive visibility, and strategic media engagement.
Gladys was awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship as a research fellow on media ethics at Oxford University. During her time at Green College, she embraced the vibrant campus life – practicing yoga in the Observatory, enjoying games of squash and tennis, and keeping fit on the rowing machine. Summer brought garden parties in full bloom, while the dining hall became a favoured spot for its famously delicious meals.
Gladys began her career in financial journalism, followed by consultancy, advising a wide spectrum of clients – from government bodies and financial institutions to listed companies and industry associations – on cross-border communications strategies. Her work has spanned major financial and policy hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore Beijing, Shanghai and London, and has included media strategy and crisis communications.
In addition to her corporate role, Gladys is a Lecturer for the Postgraduate Diploma and Certificate in Public Relations and Corporate Communication at the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education. She is passionate about bridging theory and practice, mentoring the next generation of communications professionals, and fostering ethical, strategic thinking in the field.
Gladys is also deeply committed to voluntary work, having designed, organised and participated in community initiatives throughout her life. Whether supporting youth development or contributing to cultural and educational programmes, she brings creativity, empathy and leadership to every project.
Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Gladys brings a cross-cultural perspective to her work. She is going to be actively engaged with the alumni community, contributing to thought leadership and collaborative initiatives that connect professionals across sectors and geographies.
