Fellows made Professors

Stephanie Dakin and David Humphreys have been recognised in the 2024 Recognition of Distinction Exercise. This honour confers to each of them the title of full Professor at the University of Oxford.

Steph Dakin Profile Pic SmilingStephanie Dakin is Professor of Musculoskeletal Sciences at NDORMS and a Senior Research Fellow at Green Templeton College. Her research focuses on disorders affecting joint soft tissues including tendons and ligaments.

Her lab group aims to advance understanding of the mechanisms driving chronic inflammation and fibrosis in musculoskeletal diseases including tendinopathy, frozen shoulder and knee arthrofibrosis. Their research aims to discover new therapeutic strategies to resolve inflammation and prevent fibrosis, addressing an unmet requirement for patients.

Reflecting on her recognition, Stephanie said:

‘I’m honoured to have been conferred the title of Professor of Musculoskeletal Sciences. I am immensely grateful to family, colleagues, mentors, lab members and the College for their wonderful support and excited for this next chapter’.

David Humphreys Profile PicDavid Humphreys is Professor of Social Policy Evaluation and a Senior Research Fellow at Green Templeton College. He is an interdisciplinary social scientist whose research spans several fields including criminology, social policy, public health, and epidemiology.

His main area of interest focuses on the causes, consequences and prevention of injury, with a focus on interpersonal violence. Much of his research investigates how structural changes – such as laws, regulations or changes to the built environment – impact on the rate and/or distribution of physical harm in the population.
