Teaching Excellence Award recognises STEP into OxMed

Ellis Hall (Clinical Medicine, 2024) and Tyla Orton (Clinical Medicine, 2024) have received a Teaching Excellence Award 2026 for their work developing STEP into OxMed, a social mobility society supporting prospective medicine applicants.

STEP into OxMed provides digital educational resources and clinical skills workshops designed to give students greater insight into medicine and help them develop relevant evidence for their applications. The award will support the expansion of these resources and increase access to practical workshops for students from a wider range of backgrounds.

Ellis and Tyla said:

‘We are very pleased and grateful to have received the Teaching Excellence Award for STEP into OxMed. It is a privilege to work with prospective medicine applicants and support them in developing their confidence, knowledge and understanding of a career in medicine.

‘This award will enable us to expand our digital educational resources and increase access to clinical skills workshops, helping more students gain meaningful insight into medicine and strengthen their applications. We are delighted that the work of STEP into OxMed has been recognised in this way and look forward to continuing to develop the programme.’
