Application process

Room ballot for continuing students

Continuing students who wish to apply for college accommodation for the next academic year, and who meet the eligibility criteria, must complete the Room Ballot application form by Sunday 12 April at 23:59 BST.

Successful applicants will receive an accommodation offer from the Accommodation Office no later than Friday 1 May, and will have until Friday 8 May to accept or decline the offer.

Students who accept their offer must complete the booking process by Friday 15 May, after which the offer will expire.

Eligibility for the room ballot

All full-time Green Templeton students are entitled to up to two years of college accommodation. To remain eligible, you must:

  • Be a current full-time Green Templeton student for the academic year in which you are applying
  • Have no outstanding battels balance

Room allocation process

Room allocation is determined through a ballot system. Applications are prioritised and drawn within the following categories:

  1. Second- or third-year students who have not previously lived in college accommodation
  2. Final-year students who have lived in college accommodation for one year
  3. Second-year students who have lived in college accommodation for one year
  4. Other continuing students with at least one year of entitlement remaining

Notes

  • For the purposes of allocation, ‘final year’ refers to:
    • Third year for Clinical and DPhil students
    • Second year for MPhil students
The year of study refers to the year for which accommodation is sought, not the current year.
  • Students who have already used their two-year accommodation entitlement may still apply, but will be placed on a waiting list.
  • The incoming GCR President is entitled to accommodation for a third year if required, as is the person selected to handover the GCR to next year’s team. In recognition of their roles, consideration will also be given to accommodating other key GCR committee officers (VP Entertainment, VP Welfare, Treasurer and the Internal Entertainment Officer) close to College, where possible.

New students

Following the close of the Room Ballot, incoming full-time students may apply for accommodation on a from Wednesday 20 May 2026.

Further details will be shared by the Accommodation Office via email to offer holders in late April.

Priority allocations

Both continuing and incoming students may be prioritised for accommodation (subject to availability) under the following circumstances:

Students with medical conditions or disabilities

Students requiring specific accommodation adjustments due to a disability or long-term health condition should contact:

Rebecca Wilson, Admissions and Disability Support Officer

You may be asked to provide supporting medical evidence outlining your requirements. The Admissions and Disability Support Officer will liaise with the Accommodation Office and Academic Registrar to ensure appropriate arrangements are considered.

While the college makes every effort to support students with medical conditions or disabilities, accommodation is subject to availability and demand may exceed the number of suitable rooms. As such, it may not be possible to guarantee a preferred room type. All requests are carefully assessed on an individual basis to ensure allocations are made in a fair and appropriate manner.

Depending on individual needs, students may request specific features, equipment, or adaptations. Examples include ground floor access, provision of a small fridge for medication, or an en-suite bathroom. These examples are not exhaustive, and the college will consider other reasonable adjustments where possible.

Please note that, due to the historic nature of many college buildings, accommodation is currently not suitable for wheelchair users. In addition, much of the accommodation is located in blocks and annexes separate from the main college site. As catering is not provided full-time or at weekends, many properties include shared kitchen facilities for self-catering.
