Food and Meal Bookings
Dining and sharing meals together is an important part of life at Green Templeton, and the college is well-known for having some of the best food in the University!
The Dining Hall can be found on the ground floor of the Radcliffe Observatory. There is no High Table, so Fellows, students, staff, and other Common Room members all dine together as equals.
Anyone wishing to book into a college meal can list their dietary requirements when they book.
Lunch is served between 12:00 and 13:45 from Monday to Friday throughout the year, except during a two-week closure in August and two weeks over Christmas. Filter coffee and tea is served in the Common Room between 12:00 and 14:00. You will need to book into lunch before 11:00 on the day you wish to eat.
Wednesday and Thursday formal dinners
Formal dinners are held every Wednesday during term time and every Thursday, except for brief closure periods over Christmas, Easter and August. Pre-dinner drinks are served in the Common Room at 19:30 with the call to dinner at 20:00. Tea, coffee and chocolates are served in the Common Room after dinner. Bookings open six weeks in advance and close at 10:30 a full week before. The dress code is smart business attire.
Informal suppers usually happen three times per term and dates will be listed on your term card. Bookings open six weeks in advance and close on 10:30 the Friday before the supper. It follows the lunch format of collecting meals from a servery and no assigned seating. The dress code is casual.
Exchange dinners (‘home and away’ legs)
The Graduate Common Room (GCR) arranges exchange dinners with other colleges, featuring a ‘home’ leg at Green Templeton, held on a Friday evening, and an ‘away’ leg, held at another college. They are usually held twice a term and details will be on your term card or available from the GCR. The dress code is ‘dress to impress’
Friday black tie / clubs and societies dinners
Details about all Friday black tie dinners and special dinners for clubs and societies can be requested from the GCR. The dress code is black tie and there is sometimes a bop in the bar afterwards.
The Dining Hall and Grzelso Room (a smaller dining room attached to the main Hall) can be booked for private dinner parties when not in use for college functions. Please contact the Conference & Events Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a booking.
