Green Templeton College Freedom of Information publication scheme

This Freedom of Information publication scheme follows the standard format required by the Information Commissioner.

It sets out what information the College publishes, or intends to publish, and how the information can be accessed.

The purpose of the scheme is to give a clear indication of the college publications that are routinely accessible, so that the public can be informed as far as reasonably possible of the purpose and nature of college activities, and to assist in developing a greater culture of openness in general.

Through the scheme, the College attempts to be as transparent as possible about its activities, while at the same time recognising that there are exemptions within the Act.

In accordance with the Information Commissioner’s guidance for higher education institutions, our publication scheme sets out the following classes of information:

1. Who we are and what we do

History

Green Templeton College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. It was established in its current form in 2008 through the merger of Green and Templeton Colleges. Green Templeton is a graduate community bringing together students, academics and practitioners with a particular focus on business and management, health and medicine, and social sciences. Location

Green Templeton College is located to the north of Central Oxford on Woodstock Road. You can find maps and directions on this page.

Governance

The Principal and an elected group of Fellows form the Governing Body of the College. The College is constituted and regulated in accordance with the College Statutes, which are made by order of Her Majesty in Council in accordance with the Royal Charter and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923. The College Regulations are additional rules made by the Governing Body.  The Governing Body has responsibility for the direction and management of the affairs of the College. Subsidiary companies

Green Templeton operates two wholly owned companies, which help to support the College’s core activities of education and research: GTC Design & Build and Green Templeton Services Ltd.

Salaries and benefits

College salaries are in accordance with Oxford University salary scales. Information about employee benefits are available in the Green Templeton Staff Handbook (print version only). You can request a copy of the Staff Handbook, but a fee may be charged.

Oversight and responsibility

Green Templeton’s Investment and Finance Committee monitors the college’s financial resources and advises the Governing Body on the management of them.

3. How we make decisions

Decision making process

Decisions are made by, or ratified by, Governing Body, which meets around 6 times a year.

Committees of Governing Body meet from time to time, or once or twice a term, to prepare recommendations, or to take decisions on matters delegated to them by Governing Body.

Decisions are made in accordance with the college’s Statutes and Regulations.

What our priorities are

Green Templeton College has around 600 students from close to 75 countries and more than 300 fellows, it is international, family friendly and future focused within a traditional Oxford setting.

Collaborations and interactions across the community of students, fellows and staff are actively encouraged and an egalitarian ethos is epitomized by a single common room. The inclusion of all, regardless of gender, sexual identity, race, ethnicity or class, is one of the foundational principles.

The college’s intellectual agenda and distinctive academic profile emphasise issues relating to human welfare and social, economic and environmental well-being in the 21st century.

Green Templeton is outward facing and has permeable boundaries to bring high quality academic research to bear on real world problems.

The college aims to provide an inclusive environment, which values diversity and maintains a working, learning and social environment in which the rights and dignity of all its fellows, staff and students are respected to assist them in reaching their full potential.

Green Templeton’s subsidiary companies, GTC Design & Build and Green Templeton Services Ltd., are registered with Companies House.

The college and its subsidiary companies are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office for the purpose of data protection.

7. The services we offer

Green Templeton’s primary purpose is as a place of education and research. Information for prospective students, and on services for current students (including academic and financial support, welfare, accommodation, meals and a library) is available on this website.

Current research undertaken by Green Templeton Fellows is regularly reported in news articles. The college’s annual magazine, Observatory, also highlights research undertaken by the community as well as giving a flavour of college life.

The Green Templeton alumni programme keeps alumni connected with the college through a schedule of regular events and communications.

The college pursues a range of academic initiatives, bringing together college members from different areas of expertise on issues around health and care, and policy and practice.

Printed versions of all documents produced by Green Templeton and referred to in this publication scheme are available.  A fee may be charged. Requests for documents should be sent to the Freedom of Information Officer.

If the information you seek is not already available, you can request that the College provide it by submitting a FOI request. Requests should be emailed or sent by post to:

If you have any comments about this scheme, or are not satisfied that information is being published in accordance with it, you should contact the Freedom of Information Officer in the first instance.

If you are still dissatisfied, please write to the Principal who will arrange for the matter to be reviewed internally.
