Celebrating medical educators
Green Templeton has celebrated the outstanding contribution of its medical educators with the inaugural Teaching Associate Awards. The awards recognise Teaching Associates (TAs) and tutors who have made a particular impact on students over the past academic year. The event was held at the Osler Library, 13 Norham Gardens.
The awards were presented at an evening organised by the Richard Doll Society (RDS), GTC’s medical society, bringing together medical students and Teaching Associates from across the clinical years. Alongside the awards, the Society organised drinks and an informal networking reception, giving students the opportunity to speak with Teaching Associates about their experiences, career pathways and specialty choices, and to seek informal careers advice.
The award winners were selected following nominations from medical students, who were invited to recognise tutors who had made an outstanding contribution to their learning and development. The nominations highlighted the breadth of support provided by Teaching Associates, from developing students’ clinical knowledge and practical skills to building confidence, providing mentorship and creating supportive learning environments.

Teaching Associates are a central part of the medical teaching programme at Green Templeton, generously giving their time and expertise alongside busy clinical roles to support the college’s medical students. The new awards aim to recognise this contribution formally and to celebrate the positive impact that excellent clinical educators can have on students throughout their training.
Following the success of the inaugural Richard Doll Society–Teaching Associates Summer Soirée, the college hopes that the awards will become an annual tradition, continuing to recognise and celebrate the educators who contribute so much to college’s medical community.
