Please join Research Fellow Dr Emilie Vrain as she discusses her latest research.
Digital technologies and applications are all around us. Apps, the internet, smartphones, cloud-based services powered by artificial intelligence – all increasingly inseparable from our daily life. In this online talk, Dr Emilie Vrain explores the ways in which digitalisation is changing how we move, shop, relax, interact, and manage life at home – and the impact this is having on energy use and carbon emissions… for better and for worse. She discusses how digitalisation can contribute to achieving net-zero emission targets, emphasising the need for strategic public policy direction.

Alumni gathered for after work drinks on Thursday 11 May from 18:30 at The Bow Street Tavern, London WC2E 7AU, to catch up with your fellow London-based alumni. This was the inaugural event of what we hope will become a regular fixture on the London alumni calendar.
Beijing Alumni Lunch

A gathering hosted by Douglas Noble (Medicine, 1999) was a great opportunity for networking with those working in diverse fields in China including in academia, the private sector and for the United Nations. They were able to discuss their connection to the college and form new friendships. They also – with thanks to Alice Noble – enjoyed hearty British food! Principal Sir Michael Dixon recorded a short video message that they watched together. There is now a Green Templeton alumni WeChat group, and we encourage members to contact the Alumni Office if they wish to join it.

Research Fellow Professor Stephanie Dakin discussed her research. Stephanie is Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Sciences and a veterinary surgeon. She spent her early career as an equine vet with a particular interest in musculoskeletal injuries in horses.

Meeting Minds in Asia: Tokyo Alumni Weekend
22 to 24 March 2019
The Meeting Minds in Asia Weekend, taking place in Tokyo, included presentations of the latest Oxford research across many disciplines, talks from prominent local figures, and socialising and networking opportunities. There were specially-organised tours and events including a Celebration Dinner at the Edo Period Happo-en gardens and a brunch-time cruise. The last Meeting Minds weekend was held in Oxford in September 2018 and drew more than 100 speakers and 1,400 guests. Find out more about Meeting Minds in Tokyo here.
The college has received the final consents for a major transformation of the Radcliffe Observatory.
The project will restore the south face, improve landscaping and create an accessible new entrance through the East Wing. It will reenergise the Observatory as a focal point of the college and the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter.

We were delighted to host our annual Diversity Dinner last month, bringing together students, fellows and staff to celebrate inclusion during Black History Month.
Professor Patricia Daley opened the evening with reflections on her journey through academia and the ongoing work to advance equality at the University of Oxford, sparking thoughtful discussion among attendees.
Guests then enjoyed a three-course African-inspired menu created by members of the Black Students’ Society with our catering team.
The college community choir singing a wintry warmer up in the tower last Tuesday evening. `The Song of Winter` by Alison Burns.
Choir rehearsals are from 17:30 to 19:00 on Tuesday evenings (usually in the Stables Bar), all are welcome!
